UNiK was founded in the late 1980s by Mr A.K.Ng, a former secondary school teacher. He saw a commercial potential of the locally written past-year examination papers for Penilaian Darjah 5, SRP and SPM. Despite being inexperienced in the publishing industry, he was determined and believed in his vision.
With his entrepreneurial spirit and more than 15 years teaching experiences in elite schools, he worked at expanding the publishing house and creating UNiK into a technology-based publishing house.
After learning to read with Phonics Fun, my daughter shows initiative and is eager to learn English. She would take her own initiative to study by herself at home, and run the Phonics CD without being asked to. Now, her pronunciation is much clearer, and she performs better in her spelling exercises at school. This is a wonderful, synthetic phonics app, teaching the code of the English language. We loved it so much that we purchased the second portion of the app, Basic Phonics 2. The learning activities are short and a great manner to introduce and review the letter sounds of the ABCs, as well as the more advanced code (dipthongs, digraphs, etc.).
The pronunciations of the sounds are also pretty pure and accurate, which is very important. It also helps children discern beginning and ending sounds, as well as extends a few other skills for both reading and spelling. There is also a writing section that teaches children the proper manner to write the letter.
